ORDER OF WORSHIP
Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Confession and Absolution
P We are the 21st Century Pontius Pilate, Pharisees and Roman Soldiers! Our thinking and actions are so worldly at times, that we appear to outsiders no different than any other person on the street. Our thoughts, actions and words are full of worldly influences and impressions. Let us then confess our sins to our Heavenly Father and ask His forgiveness.
C Heavenly Father we often fail to live as sons and daughters of You, our Heavenly Father. We live as people of the world and not in the world as Your Word directs and commands us. Forgive us Lord and renew in us a passion to be salt and light to a world that is full of darkness and worldliness and rot.
P In spite of our worldliness, God loves us and forgives us for the sake of the suffering and death of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Receive this forgiveness and rejoice that God does love you and renews you in the ability to be salt and light to our worldly world. You are forgiven in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
READINGS AND SERMON
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life + everlasting. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed by Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Pastor: The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
The Lord look upon you with favor and +give you peace.
